27. More on Re-Taking
Here, it’s black’s move: The Queen’s disposition toward the King is not one of check. On the Field, they cannot attack each other. If the knight in-terposes between the King and Border bishop, thus blocking check, the bishop may then take the knight; the King, in turn, can re-take the bishop. The King is not prevented from doing so by the Queen, since the Queen neither checks the King nor is able to cap-
ture the major piece that “re-takes” the invading Border bishop.
