28. Still More on Re-Taking
The “re-take” rule does not apply to pawns, only to major pieces launching attacks from
the Court or Border. For ex-ample, consider the situation shown left: If, after taking the black Field rook, the white knight is taken by the black pawn, the white rook can claim the pawn. However, if the bishop takes the knight, the rook cannot attack. Here, the rook would probably opt against taking the pawn, since it would be subject to capture by the black Border knight.
