26. The Re-Take Rule

In line with the re-take rule, if the Court knight, left, takes the Field bishop, he, in turn, can be taken by the King; likewise, if the knight takes the rook, he can be taken by the Field knight. Once the King or knight execute their re-takes, white Field pieces cannot respond in kind. So, here, assuming the white knight takes the rook and this is followed by the Field knight “re-taking” its white counter- part, the white rook can do nothing in response.
