The Rules of Cypher Chess

V. The King.

​

a. The King moves as in classical chess. 

​

b. He cannot be checked by major pieces in the Field (but see exception of collusion, below). 

​

c. Unlike the other major pieces, he can enter Court without the aid of the Spy. 

​

d. Once in Court, he must remain at least one square away from his own Spy and he cannot “flip” the opposing Spy by moving next to it: In Court, the opposing Spy flips

him from any Court square, inclu-ding from any square across the board, as long as no pieces block its trajectory. (However, the Court-King can still flip the opposing Field- or Border-Spy.) See discussion of flipping, below.
