35. Coup d'état
If a pawn manages to reach the last row of Field squares, it is removed from the board and a coup d'état ensues-- the
highest ranking of the oppo-nent’s remaining pieces (ex-cept the King and spy) now switches allegiance. When pieces of duplicate rank remain (e.g. two knights, two bishops, etc.), the preference of the player whose pawn crossed the board prevails. Here we see that by landing on f9 the pawn brings the black Queen over to its side. The Queen's nearness to the King creates an imminent threat of attack.
